2015 List: Mathematical Prediction: Girl Edition

It's been a while, but here is my yearly mathematical prediction for the female SSA rank, this time for 2015:

01 Olivia (+1)
02 Emma (-1)
03 Isabella (+1)
04 Sophia (-1)
05 Ava (=)

2015 List: Mathematical Prediction: Boy Edition

Do you also get baby name blues after the release of the new baby name rank? I do, especially after all of the interesting bits of data have been analyzed. Then you're left with a big bowl of emptiness, and you're longing already for the next rank, which is still far far away. But don't worry, I've got you covered. While not the real list, obviously, since I'm not a futurologist, they are just some fun predictions of what mathematically would happen next year, if the names increased or decreased the same amount as the year before.

For boys, this is what the top 20 would look like:

01 Noah (=)
02 Liam (=)

03 Mason (=)
04 William (+1)

05 Alexander (+3)

2014 List: Mathematical Prediction: Boy Edition

So here it is, the mathematically accurate predictions of what the 2014 boy ranking may look like. Remember, these aren't to be taken too seriously, as I've explained to you before. If last years increases and decreases remained the same this year, this is how the 2014 rank would look like:

01 Liam (+1)
02 Noah (-1)
03 Jacob (=)
04 William (+1)
05 Mason (-1)

2014 List: Mathematical Prediction: Girl Edition

Hello readers! I apologize for the long absence, but I had some personal issues that kept me from updating this blog for a while. I will try to be back more often, however I can't promise anything yet.
Over the last few weeks I have managed to do my mathematical predictions for both genders, the boy edition should be out in the next few days. This time, we start with the girl edition, so let's see how the 2014 list could look like next May:

01 Emma (+1)
02 Sophia (-1)
03 Olivia (=)
04 Isabella (=)
05 Ava (=)

2013 List: Mathematical Prediction: Girl Edition

After some demand on making a girl edition, I spent the last few weeks compiling the future girl ranking - that is, if names during this year had the same increase / decrase as last year. I know that isn't really the case with most names, but it does give us some sort of preview of what could happen.

But enough of that, let's get to the juicy part, here is the possible top 20 for the 2013 list:

01 Sophia (=)
02 Emma (=)
03 Isabella (=)
04 Olivia (=)
05 Ava (=)

2013 List: Mathematical Prediction: Boy Edition

Curious to see how the SSA boy rank might look next year? Well that's what this post is all about. Basically, it is a preview on how the chart could look if the names had the same increase/decrease this year, as they had last year. Obviously this isn't gonna happen exactly, because numbers and trends change every year, but some overall jumps and falls are turn out to be quite accurate.

So how will the boys top 20 for 2013 look if it had the exact same performance as last year? Check it out:

01 LIAM (+5)
02 ETHAN (+1)
03 MASON (-1)
04 NOAH (=)
05 JACOB (-4)

2012 List: Mathematical Prediction

Last year in September, I did a mathematical prediction for the list published this May, and now I'm doing one for the one released next year.
If you didn't read my post last year, basically what I did was look at the number of babies born with a certain boy name, see how much it increased and decreased from the previous year, and apply those changes to the new ranking. Like I said last year, we never know if a name will continue to rise or start to fall, since things change year to year, but it's all in good fun.

So let's look at the future ranking of 2012, if names performed exactly the way they did in 2011:

01 MASON (+1)
02 JACOB (-1)
03 WILLIAM (=)
04 NOAH (+1)
05 JAYDEN (-1)

2011 List: Mathematical Prediction

This Summer, I had some extra time to spare, and I thought about comparing the popularity change of the boy names between 2009 and 2010, based on the number of babies born, and use those numbers to predict the 2011 ranking. I did round up the numbers to make things easier for me, otherwise it would've taken me way too many hours.
So this is how the 2011 list would look, if the names this year had the same change (whether positive or negative) as last year:

01 Jacob (=)
02 Mason (+10)
03 Jayden (+1)
04 Ethan (-2)
05 William (=)
