The name Lynn is of English origin and it means "waterfall, pool". Lynn was commonly used as a male name in the early 20th century, before it became feminised. Today it's also losing ground on the girls side, in fact, the name was last seen on the girl rank back in 1996, so why not bring it back to the boys side? If girls steal, so can boys.
Anyway, here is the popularity of the name Lynn for boys:
Lynn has been around for boys since the first name ranking back in the late 1800s. The name seemed to be on the rise during several decades, peaking at #152 in the 1940s. Since it reached it's peak, the name rapidly fell out of favour and was out of the top1000 in the 1980s, mostly due to it's popularity for girls. Fortunately parents are more open minded these days and names that do become unisex tend to last a lot longer for boys than at the time.
If you're not too fond of Lynn, or you don't think you could use it on a boy these days, here are my suggestions for some alternative names: Wynn, Flynn, Brynn, Glynn, Gwynn, Rynn. I think all of them have that joyful sound, appealing to many parents. Grab them!
